hmtday Body Language
The over-smart people tend to be suspicious of others. Perhaps they do not take the relationship for granted. They tend to take relationships with a pinch of salt.

hmtday Body Language
We find the dumb-witted or the less intelligent people more lovable. Perhaps being lovable and less intelligent is built into our genes.

hmtday Body Language
The social intelligence and the body language of our canine friends have evolved over thousands of years to be the 'man's best friend'. In this process, they split from their and wolves' common ancestor.

hmtday Monsoon Season
The weather is a bit chilly; no need to put on the fan. Usually, it had become a habit with me to put on the fan the moment I sit on the sofa in the hall. This time I feel almost shivering cold under the fan breeze.

hmtday Monsoon Season
The monsoon season is wonderful; this year it is the most enjoyable one. I sit in the hall watching the rains lashing at the window sills relentlessly. It is dark and I have to put on the light to read the newspaper.

hmtday News Waves
Ram Nath Kovind becomes India's 14th president. Until yesterday he was almost unknown. The opposition's candidate Meira Kumar was better known than Kovind.

hmtday Parenting Place
The prolification of smartphones has made the parenting task even tougher. Every kid on the block nowadays walks flaunting the latest style smartphone. God knows what all they can access under the sun!

hmtday Parenting Place
Peer pressure is the strongest force which the young and inexperienced people find hard to resist. That is the time when growing up children need the parental watchfulness and guidance the most.

hmtday Parenting Place
It is easy for young people to deviate from the straight path. Once they get derailed it is extremely difficult to put them on back on the right track.

The adolescent time is the most vulnerable for most of the growing people. That is the time when parents have to be watchful. They can be easily derailed during this tempestuous time.

hmtday Hygiene Tips
The milk used to get spoiled quick during the hot summer weather. If you are not using the milk right away, just stack the pack in the freezer. Take it out and thaw just before you are ready to boil it.

hmtday Hygiene Tips
Good hygiene is my priority. Whenever I find a heap of unwashed dishes dumped in the kitchen, my hands tickle to go and clean them all.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
The lunch is cooking in the kitchen - it is simple food, but very tasty and filled with a delicious aroma. I got bored with the little reading that I do. These days I scarcely read anything outside of daily newspapers.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
Since the movements are restricted I feel a little bit lazy and idle. The 'kaamwali bai' came with a fancy umbrella, did her usual chores around the house in a relaxed manner and with a smile, and gone.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
A relaxed afternoon today. Outside it is raining unceasingly and the pleasantly cool weather continues inside. I would not dare to go out unless it is an emergency.

hmtday Health Club
So take care to live without stress or tension. The best way to avoid stress is to breathe deeply until the stress subdues. Have a positive attitude towards life o reduce stress.

hmtday Health Club
Good sleep and good appetite is the secret of living a healthy life. But good sleep and good appetite are the results of a stress-free life.

hmtday Monsoon Season
The rains seem to lash the city even today the same as yesterday. The feeder lakes to the city are almost 70% full. We have to go out this morning, I wonder whether we can make it.

hmtday Monsoon Season
Yesterday was the July month's highest rain in three years. Undoubtedly it was; it rained almost continuously since morning. I ventured out with an umbrella during the brief respite in the evening.

hmtday Monsoon Season
Tomorrow we are planning to dispose off this microwave oven. The box needs to be neatly tied up to deliver it halfway to the buyer. I have to get a rope of about 6 meters from the hardware shop. If I get the rope immediately, I can tie up the package right now. A big load will be off our mind.

hmtday Monsoon Season
I have certain things to catch up, but the unceasing rains are interrupting my schedule. The large microwave oven that I bought years ago is lying unused at home and is occupying space. Finally, we found a buyer for this unused item.

hmtday Monsoon Season
It is the morning time; the hands of the wall clock twiring around 10. Outside the rain is pouring down heavily, and not a respite to the dark clouds hovering above.

hmtday Happy Things
Seeing such a child outside the door made my day a happy one. Young children look pretty and innocent. That's why our folklore has glorified Lord Krishna as a young, mischievous child.

hmtday Happy Things
I saw a chubby child outside the door this morning. As soon as I opened the door, she entered in nonchalantly. She is the newest daughter of our neighbor's brother, whose family have been visiting her from Bangalore.

hmtday Guided Relaxation
The mind sometimes becomes as turbulent as the sea in a storm. I advise people to remain calm, cool and complacent whatever happens around. But it is not as easy as it is said. The tensions sometimes build up wave after wave, all of their own accord.

hmtday Beautiful Places
I was sent to visit the temple on a bicycle with a local youngster. The local guy was not as stunned as I was to witness this world's wonder. We did not spend too much time over there. But a brief visit was enough to leave me wonderstruck.

hmtday Beautiful Places
The Meenakshi Amman temple at Madurai in Tamil Nadu is one of the beautiful places that I visited a long time is still firmly entrenched in my mind. The first amazing sight was the towering 'gopuram', so intricately and marvelously sculptured.

hmtday Fashion Sense
However, the young boys and girls who moved to the city and suddenly acquired fashionable airs and talked with a foreign accent seemed unnatural. The fashion sense should come naturally in tune with the rhythms of the body and the mind.

hmtday Fashion Sense
The backward society teased the young boys and girls who did things with the aplomb of a fashionista. So did the backward village society did not appreciate the well-modulated voices.

hmtday Fashion Sense
Being fashionable was not much appreciated in the culture that I grew up. However, I now realize that there is universal beauty in doing whatever we do and in appearing fashionable.

hmtday Food Food
We used to get plenty drumsticks on the backyard tree of our childhood home. Our neighbors used to pluck the drumstick pods from this tree for free. I never imagined that we have to pay dearly for these very drumsticks in a city.

hmtday Food Food
I had nice breakfast this morning. It consisted of parotas of nice flavor along with the leftover sambar of drumsticks of yesterday. I relish the drumsticks sambar very much.

hmtday Email Etiquette
Emails are generally used to keep in touch with friends and relatives. Now it has become an advertising mode for businesses, which becomes an avoidable intrusion into private correspondence.

hmtday Email Etiquette
Some people are habituated to send spams compulsively. That does not get them any extra attention. Moreover, it is not a polite thing to do. It is good that most email services recognize the spams and divert them to a separate folder enabling the users to delete them enmass.

hmtday Happy Things
A few moments ago utter darkness covered all around. Now it has started raining; heavy rains lash against the panes of the hall window where I am sitting. Sights like this come for free; if you have the mood to enjoy, they do not cost anything.

hmtday Happy Things
One of the basic ingredients of everlasting happiness, perhaps, is the steady supply of money. The harsh realities of life are that you have to pay through your nose for everything that you enjoy.

hmtday Happy Things
I already had my second breakfast with parotas and batata baji. The taste of the nice breakfast still lingers in my mouth. Good and happy things, however, do not last long. Soon tough realities of life take over.

hmtday Happy Things
One of the happy things that I enjoy is relaxing on a rainy day. It is about 10 o'clock in the morning, but it is dark because of the dark clouds. The weather is cool and pleasant. How much I wish the weather always remains like this!

hmtday Evening Thoughts
The weather is pleasant this evening. I just had tea with some 'upma'. The sky is dark with clouds. The papers say that it is going to rain heavily. I am still debating whether to go out and get drenched in rain or simply relax at home.

hmtday Body Language
Whenever I go out in the evenings, and sometimes in the mornings, I meet several acquaintances outside. Some of them beam pleasant smiles by way of greetings and I too respond similarly.

hmtday Body Language
A smile is a forever a beautiful thing. I suppose only human beings are capable of smiling. It is the symmetry of facial muscles that conveys a thousand pleasant things.

hmtday Life Lessons
Character building consists of a few essentials that teach you to live well while letting others live. Once you master these elements the life goes on a simple and straight path.

hmtday Life Lessons
Character building should start early in children. The age old wisdom says that you cannot bend a plant when it is grown into a solid tree.

hmtday Body Language
As I turned to the nearest alley towards my home I noticed a brown dog sitting by the roadside. Its face looked a bit sad to me. The dog was not noticing anyone in particular. But it sensed that I was observing it and it slightly turned its eyes towards me. They were shining brightly. I gave it a smile and it responded by wagging its tail.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
I ventured out in the evening with my umbrella in hand. But there was no need of the umbrella as it did not rain. I spent some pleasant time sitting on a bench in the church quadrangle.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
It was a pleasant afternoon today. I had nice tea along with vermicelli dish. A couple of times it drizzled, but the weather remained quite cool the whole day.

hmtday Happy Birthday
I was feeling really hungry, but for the sake of grace, I partook only a small quantity. So after coming home, which is just two blocks away, I ate again our home-cooked food. This friend often takes my assistance in streamlining his group's website.

hmtday Happy Birthday
The friend ordered biriyani and ice cream for all of us. It was wonderful biriyani accompanied with mango pickle and papads. The Canadian friends relished the stuff but found it too spicy and hot.

hmtday Happy Birthday
A Canadian delegation was present when I visited the friend's home. They were a group of artistes and present small skits, perhaps on religious subjects.

hmtday Happy Birthday
The birthday party of my friend's child went on well. This friend is a pastor and is the coordinator for the entire state for his Evangelistic mission. Maybe the mission is getting good funds from abroad. This friend goes on foreign trips frequently.

hmtday Monsoon Season
Every monsoon season our household loses quite a few umbrellas. That is why I become overcautious and over conscious about the umbrella in my hand. That may be the reason that not a single umbrella got slippd away from my hands.

hmtday Monsoon Season
I got up early this morning as usual. It is the nice monsoon weather and I spend lovely time sitting alone in the hall. Out of my hall window, I can see dark clouds floating in the sky. The rains have stopped temporarily, but the clouds keep moving.

hmtday Monsoon Season
I enjoy the monsoon season very much. The rains are not so heavy in Mumbai as to interrupt the essential outdoor activities. The most pleasant thing about the monsoon season is that the weather is cool and the power bills are low.

hmtday Happy Birthday
I am now getting ready to attend the birthday celebration of the younger daughter of a friend of mine. It is worrying me a little bit that I am not able to keep up the appointed time. I will simply drop in with a small gift and greet the birthday child.

hmtday Fashion Sense
These days people are very much fashion conscious. They dress well, though not in a gaudy manner, and carry themselves very well. It is a pleasure to see people who conduct themselves fashionably in every aspect of their lives.

hmtday Family Time
It is everyone's dream to spend the old age with the extended family consisting of children and grandchildren. But nothing happens as we wish. So we have to be content with whatever situation in which we find ourselves.

hmtday Family Time
Now, at the fag end of life, family time is somewhat a rarity. Husband and wife alone are the company for each other. The grown up children are rarely accessible, if at all.

hmtday Evening Thoughts
A local social worker has invited me to his house for the birthday celebration of his younger daughter. Wife has gone out to buy a gift item for the child and I am waiting for her to return. Otherwise, it is all quiet at home.

hmtday Evening Thoughts
It is a relaxing evening today. The rains have stopped temporarily since morning. The clothes washed yesterday are still lying on the drying lines in the balcony.

hmtday Food Food
Home prepared idlies and chapathis are doing brisk business in our area. The idlies are available at any of the cold storage shops in the area; so also the chapathis. A Marathi old lady sells excellent hot chapathis near the church gate every day.

hmtday Food Food
Some people are really specialists in excellent food preparations. They make it a home business, just as the East Indian lady upstairs who takes orders for home baked cakes.

hmtday Food Food
A coorgi lady who had rented a flat on the 2nd floor downstairs used to sell cooked pork fro home. Here preparation of pork was wonderfully delicious. We came to know of her just about a month before she left the rental accommodation.

hmtday Food Food
Coorg is a picturesque district on the Western Ghats section of Karnataka. A variety of pork delicacies is the specialty of the Coorgi people. These generally go along with different kinds of fragrant rice preparations.

hmtday Beautiful Places
Coorg is the picturesque district of Karnataka in the hills (Western Ghats). It is well-known for vast coffee plantations, lush forests and misty hills. Many Coorgi students come to Mangalore to prosecute their college studies.

hmtday Beautiful Places
During my younger days, I was about to go on a trip to Madikeri in the Kodagu (Coorg) district of Karnataka. Somehow I lost the opportunity of visiting a beautiful place not too far from my hometown.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
This is the reason that all of a sudden the thoughts of death assail my mind today. No one knows what is there in the realm beyond. Maybe it is utter emptiness; there may be nothing that connects this world with the other, except our fond memories and imaginations.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
It is now one year since the old lady from the opposite flat departed from this world. Her daughter met us earlier in the day today informing that the first death anniversary will be held on the coming Sunday.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
Just like the seasonal cycles, the life cycle of people also keeps moving. It moves in one direction and is not irreversible. Age keeps up with everyone, though unnoticeable.

hmtday Happy Things
Washing the clothes in the bathroom, prior to having a shower, is my favorite pastime. I have to realize its invaluable role as a stress-buster. More the washing load, happier I become.

hmtday Happy Things
Mopping the floor was really a breeze. I did the trick by moving the wet cloth over the floor with my feet without bending down, all the while keeping the fans in full swing. That was fun; I washed the cloth at the bathroom wash basin. From the dark and dirty water that it let out I realized that I had cleared much of the floor dust with this trick.

hmtday Happy Things
I found that sweeping the floors with the whirling fans off was a big botheration. It wasn't easy to bend my back down up to the floor. So, much of what I did was simply an eyewash. Fortunately, not much dust settled inside the house of late.

hmtday Happy Things
I realized in the absence of Nagamma that the housemaids are a great help to many a Mumbaikar household. I volunteered to do much of the work that the housemaid used to do.

hmtday Happy Things
Yesterday the happy-faced Nagamma, our long-time housemaid reappeared at the door. She was away for almost a month. She made us believe that she would not stay at her Native village in the Bidar district of Karnataka more than two weeks. So, we did not bother to ask her to get a 'badli' , a replacement.

hmtday Monsoon Season
The rains lasted a long spell. Surely, I diid not want to spend my entire evening at the bakery. So, when the rains seemed to subside a little I unfolded my umbrella and braved the rains. I had folded the ends of my trousers almost up to the knee. Even then the pants were wet. Torrents of flooded rainwater started flowing down on either side of the road, never mind the recent desilting of the drains.

hmtday Monsoon Season
It was the same experience that I witnessed about the same time a year ago. There were many other unwary shoppers like me who ran to take shelter underneath the eaves of nearest shops. I took shelter at my regular bakery. And, what a heavy downpour it was!

hmtday Monsoon Season
It was when I reached the brisk marketplace near the church that heavy rain started pouring down unexpectedly. I did not see any rain-bearing dark clouds, though, when I stepped out of my home.

hmtday Monsoon Season
I forgot to take my umbrella with me, though it has become a habit with me of late. After reaching the quadrangle below I felt a few cool drops of rain sprinkling over my head and then went up and brought my umbrella.

hmtday Monsoon Season
Then, all of a sudden, once again I got caught in a massive cloudburst two days ago. I was hesitating to go out, but seeing a brief respite from the continuous rains since morning I ventured out.

hmtday Monsoon Season
The monsoon is now in full swing. A few days of heavy rain has filled the seven catchment lakes of Mumbai almost by 40 percent. The city has received the best June rains during the last five years.

hmtday Health Club
Some older ladies use the backyard of our building to pace up and down. It gives them privacy and saves them from the hurdles of moving vehicles. However, I have not seen men using this space for daily walks. Perhaps they prefer to walk on the crowded streets.

hmtday Health Club
Brisk walking for about 20 minutes every day is beneficial for health. It does not need much effort or a strong determination. One just needs to make it a habit.

hmtday Happy Things
Now the schools seem to have reopened after the summer break. So the children playing downstairs has become a little rarer sight.

hmtday Happy Things
The children playing downstairs choose this small covered place to avoid the vehicles and autorickshaws continuously using the building quadrangle below.

hmtday Happy Things
It is a happy thing to observe little children playing with absolute abandon in the little space down the stairs. They simply ignore the grownups passing them and going up and down the elevator.

hmtday Beautiful Places
On the top of the hills, a kind or tall and hard grass grew, amidst which you can just get lost. This grass has no value as the fodder for the cattle. But, when it is dried in the summer, it is of invaluable help in thatching the roofs of village huts.

hmtday Beautiful Places
The jungle around those hills was the home for troops of gray langurs on the trees. You can see a sudden surge of activity among the langurs on the sight of humans. They do not harm humans; but, as a child, I was afraid of them.

hmtday Beautiful Places
The hills around my childhood always fascinated me. The jungle around the hills sported numerous trees bearing wild fruit. We would forage those jungles and eat the wild berries to our hearts' content.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
It is somewhat a lazy afternoon today. I wanted to go out to buy some provisions for home. This way I can meet some friends and acquaintances in the street or in the church courtyard. But, because of the non-stop rain, I plan to cut short the trip.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
This singular quietude of the surroundings indicates that the incessant rains have dampened the spirit of the people. They like to remain indoors and eat hot-hot bajias or pakodas.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
It is Sunday today and the noontime has just begun. It is all quiet all around; no sound of auto-rickshaws plying recklessly in the nearby street and no loud sound of children playing the building quadrangle downstairs.

hmtday Email Etiquette
A few years ago I joined a local office. The main duty of the personal assistant working there was to open the boss's email and delete a slew of unwanted emails. Only a dozen something was finally chosen out of the hundreds of scams and scums.

hmtday Email Etiquette
Barging others with a flood of group emails is surely not a good email etiquette. Some people tolerate such habit and do not mind wasting their valuable time in deleting those forced messages. But some others react wildly to such rude intrusions.

hmtday Body Language
Yawning is a sure sign of boredom and sleepiness. Moreover, yawning seems to be contagious just like laughter.

hmtday Beautiful Places
Beautiful places come with a cost by way of money and effort. Those places have to be maintained as such; otherwise, ugliness will take over them in no time. Heave breeze has caused the trees to shed their leaves making the streets dirty and making our beautiful neighborhood unseemly.

hmtday Beautiful Places
I like to be around the hilly places with a lot of greenery. During the rainy season, such places come alive with consummate beauty all around.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
I am very careful about my umbrella; it hurts me if I lose the umbrella for nothing during these rainy days. People very often lose umbrellas during the rainy days because of carelessness. They leave it outside the stores and forget to take them back. When they come back to retrieve the umbrella, there will be no sign of it.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
There is some respite from incessant rain since morning. It is time for me to get out of the house as I am sorely missing the touch with the neighborhood and its people. Surely, I should not forget to carry the umbrella with me.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
I thought of going out to buy some household provisions. During this morning outings, I meet several of my acquaintances from the neighborhood. But because of the incessant rains since morning I dare not go out; the provisions can wait.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
Just a couple of days' rains disrupt the operations in Mumbai. The roads and the train tracks get flooded and the whole transportation system in the city gets into disarray.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
It has been thundering and lightning for the past few days. It was also raining intermittently. Finally, the rains have made their arrival in full swing. I was enjoying the weather very much. But the lightning may have affected the motherboard of my laptop and it could not start.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
Suddenly I find myself idle with nothing to do. My laptop gave way all of a sudden. All thatIcan do now is to write down my random thoughts on my hand-sized, hard-bound notebook.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
The monsoon season is the most welcome one for me; the weather is cool and pleasant. The view outside my hall window uplifts the soul. The lunch is cooking and wonderful smell emanates from the kitchen.

hmtday Email Etiquette
It would not cost you anything by being polite in your emails. Whenever you have to express your displeasure over anything, do it firmly and business-like without making it personal.

hmtday Easy Recipes
A few days ago my wife prepared 'bombyl' fry. It is a kind of small dried fish. It gives out a lot of smell. But frying it with some wet masala can very much reduce the smell and tastes quite good.

hmtday Brain Fitness
Keep your mind light and easy. Do not carry unnecessary baggage from the past. Forgetting all irrelevant and unnecessary things is the brain's way of keeping itself healthy and fit.

hmtday Body Language
However, sometimes the boy got annoyed and scolded thoroughly the dog for disturbing his sleep. The dog was peeved and went down sullen-faced to his mistress. Thereafter, the dog was very reluctant to go and wake u the boy on his mistresse's orders and simply made a long face and howled softly to expresshis dissent.

hmtday Body Language
The pt dog of a lady that I have known always took the orders from his mistress obediently and enthusiastically. When the lady, busy in preparing the breakfast in the kitchen, told the dog to wake up her son sleeping upstairs, he would run up the stairs and pull the bedsheet covering the boy and worke him up.

hmtday Beautiful Places
Green meadows spring to life after the rains. I have seen such places years ago in the plateaus near my childhood village. It is a bliss to lie down on the soft and wet grass and look at the cloudy skies.

hmtday Evening Thoughts
I had just a very short nap this afternoon. The weather is getting cool and pleasant. There are so many things weighing on my mind but, mraculously, I am able to keep it cool and light. I like to do some heavy physical work, but there are few opportunities to exert myself.

hmtday Body Language
Dogs get along very well with human beings because of their social intelligence, which becomes very much visible in their facial expressions. The wagging of their tails is the sure sign of their friendliness.

hmtday Beautiful Places
One beautiful place near to my home is the Global Vipasana Pagoda at Gorai next to Esselworld. It is a magnificent Buddhist Pagoda that permeates all-pervasive peace and quietude.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
Since the weather is fine with intermittent drizzles, it would be a nice and a relaxing afternoon today. However, when everything seems alright and everything promises to be bright, something inadvertent can suddenly crop up and spoil the day.

hmtday Weather Center
It is a cloudy day today. There has been slight and intermittant drizzle since morning. But it is still humid and a little bit humid. Maybe, a heavy downpour is required for the earth to cool down.

hmtday Weather Center
After a few days of scanty rains, it is dry weather now. However, the nights have become a little cooler; so less need to depend on the continuous running of air-conditioning.

hmtday Ways To Save Money
Keep aside a fixed sum of money for saving ever month. Do not take it into account in your regular income. Gradually you will learn to adjust your budget within the available sum of money after setting aside the regular savings.

hmtday Ways To Make Money
Making money seems to be like eating a piece of cake to some people, but to the overwhelming majority of people it is an endless, hard struggle.

hmtday Success Tips
Great successes do not come in one a big leap. It is simply an accumulation of small successes over a long period of time.

hmtday Stress Busters
Pets are a miraculous way of busting the stress. Especially, our canine friends get along so well with human beings their role in busting the stress remains unsurpassed.

hmtday Stress Busters
It is no use talking to the people who are accustomed to beat their own drums loudly. It is best to avoid such people. If there is no alternative, you can keep your ears shut and ignore the talk.

hmtday Sports World
Suddenly, our TV broke down on the eve of India-Pakistan cricket match. Perhaps it was good that we were spared from watching India's humiliating defeat.

hmtday Smartphone Etiquette
Some people are always preoccupied with their smartphones even when they are in good company. The smartphone is not a substitute for a happy, face-to-face conversation with your close ones.

hmtday Sleep Tips
Sleep comes easily to those who do physically tiring work. And, it comes as a blessing to those who are mentally tired.

hmtday Sleep Tips
Going to bed at a fixed time is one good way of getting good sleep. It becomes habitual and you are overcome by the sly sleep within a few minutes of hitting the bed.

hmtday Monsoon Season
After the rains of a few days, it has again become quite a dry season, and quite hot too. I feel quite hopeful of rains every morning, but the rain is a past-master of playing truant.

hmtday Food Food
I like the drumsticks sambar very much. During the past few days we had this sambar for lunch several times. It is my favorite food item and the children too relish it very much.

hmtday Family Time
A family friend of ours still maintains excellent relations with her two married sons. Both the sons and the daughters-in-law join their mom and dad for dinner. The mom is now quite old and cannot do strenuous work. But she takes great interest in cooking delicious food for the children.

hmtday Family Time
Dinner time is good for the family to be together and to discuss the day's events, ups, and downs. However, everything does not happen as we wish, especially when the children are gro up.

hmtday Family Time
The grown up children have their own set of mind and their own set of activities. It is not easy to get them to join in some common family time. If they do not do it willingly, I do not like to impose it on them.

hmtday Evening Thoughts
As a part of the evening routine, I will shortly go to have a shower. I combine this activity with washing the clothes. Generally, I wash my clothes myself and do not like to dump them in the washing machine.

hmtday Body Language
The body language seems to be universal to all human beings. An attentive observer can glean a lot of meanings from a person, which are normally not communicated in words.

hmtday Beautiful Places
Among the beautiful places that I visited or intended to visit is Jog Falls in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. Here the Sharavati River plunges approximately 250 meters down (the 2nd highest fall in India) on its course from the Western Ghats to the Arabian Sea.

hmtday Afternoon Thoughts
This afternoon is quite pleasant. Just had a cup of hot tea. These days I prepare the evening tea and gradually I am improving in the art. Also had crispy chaklis with the tea. That gives a pleasant pause to my afternoon routine of activities.

hmtday Menu Now
The menu for lunch today is the sambar with drumsticks. I love it very much and it is a favorite with many South Indians. I have seen some frugal families carrying just two drumsticks home from the vegetable vendor at the street corner and that seems to be enough for a delicious sambar for lunch and dinner too.

hmtday Meditation Room
I think that I am fortunate enough to have a prayer room in the vicinity. It is a place frequented by many throughout the day. It is kept neat and clean, it has enough chairs to sit nd several swirling fans overhead. It is an absolutely quiet place and is very good for meditation with a blank mind.

hmtday Media Lessons
Finally, the center has relented on the rules relating to cow slaughter band in view of countrywide protests. India is a country of a multiplicity of people with a multiplicity of food habits. It is truly said that one man's meat is another one's poison.

hmtday Longevity Secrets
The main secret to longevity is to live a frugal and disciplined life. A simple, balanced diet is the secret to living a healthy life. My dad is now 96 years old and is still going strong.

hmtday Life Lessons
It is never being too cautious while walking the busy streets or while crossing them. The traffic has increased tremendously during the past few years as people have moved from costly city areas to cheaper suburbs, and many high rise apartments have come up in the vicinity.

hmtday Incredible India
India is a kaleidoscopic country with a multiplicity of people and multiple cultures. They all add color and grandeur to the Incredible India.

hmtday Hygiene Tips
On reaching home from outside errands I wash my hands and feet. This is a hygienical way to ensure that outside germs are not brought into the home.

hmtday Hygiene Tips
Always remember to wash your hands before you eat anything; but do not overdo it. A British doctor at my former company's clinic always used to head to the washroom after bringing in a tray full of food at the diner. There he would scrub both his hand with liquid soap for minutes together. But I do not think that he was the healthiest man aline ever.

hmtday Hobby Lobby
The hobby that I enjoy most is writing down the notes. I keep a hand-sized, thick-bound, 200-pages notebook always ready with me. Filling its pages in a cryptic script like a madman is my main hobby.

hmtday Health Club
Now I go for evening walks in the greenery-filled, deserted streets nearby. Beyond that, I do not have much exercise, except pacing down the spacious hall of our home.

hmtday Health Club
The best way to maintain good health is to walk every day. I was a good swimmer at one time and used to go for swimming every day in the Olympics-sized swimming pool maintained by our multinational company in the Gulf. Now I do not have any such facility.

hmtday Happy Things
Some people may not realize how happy and comfortable their life is. The retired guy who complained to me that being confined within the four walls of the home is like serving solitary imprisonment sentence. Now he has gone with the wife to the States to join his three children there. After some time he will, of course, come back fed up of the life there.

hmtday Happy Things
The bright youngsters in our building look very cheerful The SSC Std. X results are out and many of them with flying colors. The girl from the 2nd floor below came up at 10 pm along with her mother ad a box of sweets. She was happy to have passed the examination with 80 percent marks.

hmtday Happy Birthday
I am not particular about remembering the birthdays or sending the birthday wishes. But my wife remembers a long list of birthdays by rote. Yesterday she wanted to wish her childhood friend, who resides in Andheri and is married to a Muslim guy, of her birthday. But this friend was holidaying in Kashmir with her family.

hmtday Guided Relaxation
Today evening is my relaxation time. It is not my turn to bring the household provisions. I will catch up with some of my pending work and will also get some things ready in the kitchen before wife return from her household shopping.

hmtday Food Food
My wife somehow wanted to try the 'bombil fry' dish. The dried bombils smell a lot. They need to be washed several times to get rid of the smell. The smell can be avoided by frying the bombils in oil mixed with a lot of aroma-filled spices.

hmtday Family Time
It is a relaxing day for the whole family. There isn't much work to do. I will go and have a shower before proceeding out for provisions shopping. The provisions need to be replenished every day so that the family cart runs smooth.
